David Canivete is 193 cm (6'4'' ft) tall right handed Swingman, current team captain of Mozambique National Team.

He began his career in his hometown team Grupo Desportivo Maputo back in 2008. and played there until 2015. When he moved to Ferroviario Beira. With Ferroviario David played at Africa Champions Cup in 2017, averaging 4,4 points, 2,1 rebounds and 1,3 assists in seven games he played, while shooting 48,1% from the floor.

David represented his National Team at five Africa Cup of Nations. Including three World Qualifier games, he played total of 26 games for Mozambique at big competition level, averaging 7,1 points, 3,5 rebounds, 1,1 assists and 1,2 steals per game while shooting 40,7% from the field.

Playing style

• athletic player with good muscularity, quick footwork and offensive first step
• has long wingspan, helping him when finishing with layups and when playing defense
• very good defender, able to defend all positions on the floor, using his athletic skills and good basketball IQ
• uses good positioning and his long, quick arms to cut the opponent's pass and run the counter attack
• likes to drive and finish with layups, no matter going left or right
• likes to shoot pull up jumpers from the midrange
• very good rebounder, likes to attack offensive rebounds, and on defensive end he always looks to block opponent's move and pick up the ball
